"Omegamania," April 14, 2007 Original description of Auction Lot #298 The Tomorrow Never Dies Seamaster — Actual Watch Worn by Pierce Brosnan During the Filming Omega, "Seamaster Professional, Chronometer, 300m/1000ft," No. 60160667, Ref. SU 368.1503. Worn by Pierce Brosnan during the filming of Tomorrow Never Dies in 1996/97. Very fine, rare, and important tonneau-shaped, self-winding, water-resistant, center seconds, stainless steel diver's wristwatch with date, helium escape valve, blue bezel graduated for the decompression times, and a stainless steel Omega brick-link bracelet with deployant clasp. The case back is engraved: "Worn by James Bond – 1997 – Tomorrow Never Dies." This watch is sold with a box, Certificate of Authenticity, and a 2-year Omega guarantee. Three-body, solid, polished and brushed, lyre lugs, unidirectional rotating blue aluminum bezel with faceted edges, graduated to 60 minutes, gas escape valve at 10, sapphire crystal. D. Royal blue wave pattern with painted luminous baton and dot indexes, outer minute/seconds divisions, date aperture. Steel "arrow" hands with luminous tips. M. Cal. 1120, rhodium-plated, 23 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, monometallic balance, shock absorber, self-compensating flat balance spring. Dim. 42 x 48 mm. Thickness 12 mm. Dial, case and movement signed. Estimate: On Request Provenance: The Omega Museum, this watch was worn by former James Bond Pierce Brosnan on the set of Tomorrow Never Dies. In the film, gadget master "Q" replaced the helium escape valve with a detonator. Pierce Brosnan played James Bond in the following films: Golden Eye (1995), Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), The World Is Not Enough (1999), Die Another Day (2002). |
